Radiology Administration
The Scheduler -Bilingual will:
Performs scheduling services for the Radiology Department, specifically Diagnostic, CT, MRI, Special Procedure, US, , and NM studies, and facilitates the patient receiving preparation instructions for these services. Will be expected to perform other secretarial and clerical duties as needed.
• Scheduling service standards.
• Maintains high level of professionalism and courtesy with physicians,
offices, and other hospital departments.
• Explains the procedure to the patient and answers any questions or refers
the question to a technologist or physician if appropriate.
• Communicates effectively with Radiology staff regarding their schedules and
facilitates any corrections in a professional manner.
• Performs service recovery with patients, physicians and/or their office staff
as needed and under the direction of the leadership of Radiology.
• Maintains all written scheduling standards.
• Assists in orientation and training of new employees.
• Appointment scheduling.
• Interprets physician orders, verbal & written, and accurately schedules
appropriate study or studies.
• Coordinates with all modalities to ensure proper sequencing of studies and
preparations.
• Promptly checks with Radiologist for any medication questions and
problems with preparation or procedure (i.e., previous reaction to contrast,
preparation intolerance).
• Documents special needs, sedation, adult or pediatric with RN staff.
• Facilitates the patient obtaining the appropriate preparations, instructions,
time and location of appointment.
• Accurately schedules the appointment in the Radiology Scheduling System.
• Notifies supervisor of anything that prohibits scheduling of a study.
• Performs various communication duties.
• Answers telephone courteously.
• Returns messages left of voice mail in a timely manner.
• Keeps updated list of physician, department, and Radiology leadership, and
hospital phone numbers.
• Runs reports and statistics as directed by Radiology leadership.
• Promptly notifies supervisor of Radiology Scheduling System problems (i.e.,
system down, run errors, file build errors, etc.)
Requirements:
Requires one (1) to two (2) years experience.
• Requires good communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction and positive
communication of Radiology Department image with patients, their families, outside institutions,
physicians and other Hospital departments and staff.
• Requires a personality that fosters a team cohesiveness within the work place.
• Proficient in the use of a computer. Keyboarding skills with a minimum 35 wpm. Requires good office skills and competence with basic office machines.
• Requires ability to handle multiple tasks without sacrificing attention to detail. Requires ability to work under pressure.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Requires ability to read and interpret physicians orders.

The salary range listed for exempt positions reflects full-time compensation and will be prorated based on employment status.
