Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Saint Peter's is committed to providing a setting where everyone can thrive. We have several Employee Resource Groups that are made up of staff, including physicians, who come together and plan educational and celebratory events. These include the Jewish Resource Group, African American Resource Group, Veterans Resource Group and more. Additional diversity, equity and inclusion efforts include:

  • Our implicit bias certification program provides certification to all staff. We recently opened this program to the community to provide training to Big Brother Big Sister mentees, community organizations and police departments.
  • We offer regular panel discussions with staff and residents to provide cultural competence awareness and training.
  • We partner with surrounding school systems, non-profits, senior centers and community organizations on their diversity initiatives to host lectures, health fairs and outreach efforts and maintain a presence in our diverse communities.
  • We partner with Rutgers on a program that provides Spanish medical interpretation education to bilingual qualified staff at no cost.
  • Our Community Outreach Committee hosts cultural and health awareness events for our seniors, children and underserved populations in the community.
  • We offer the President's Unity in Diversity Scholarship to our employees of color and their dependents to further their education with a non-taxable grant up to $2,000.

Giving Back

The Saint Peter's Foundation builds upon a long-standing tradition of compassionate and holistic patient care. It focuses on cultivating and distributing resources to advance the delivery of exceptional healthcare services with the aim of fostering a culture of philanthropy and inspiring others to invest in Saint Peter's Healthcare System's programs and initiatives.
