The Server will:
  • Escort customers to their tables.
  • Present menus to patrons and answer questions about menu items, making recommendations upon request.
  • Inform customers of daily specials and explain how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods.
  • Serve food and/or beverages to patrons.
  • Check with customers to ensure that they are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems.
  • Prepare checks that itemize and total meal costs and sales taxes.
  • Remove dishes and glasses from tables or counters, and take them to kitchen for cleaning.
  • Stock service areas with supplies such as coffee, food, napkins, linens, etc.
  • Take food and beverage orders over the phone.
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely and effective manner in accordance with SPUH policies to achieve the overall objectives of the position.
  • Maintain a favorable working relationship with all other SPUH employees and quests to foster and promote a fun and harmonious working climate that maximizes morale, productivity and efficiency.


Requirements:
  • Knowledge of proper dining room protocol as usually acquired with at least 1 year's experience serving in a similar style restaurant
  • Possess pleasant, polite and responsive manner for dealing with public as well as other members of the Restaurant 254, both in person and over the phone
  • Ability work under pressure and possess stamina to cope in a noisy and chaotic environment
  • Good organizational skills for dealing with diverse duties and fellow workers and customers
  • Enjoy being part of a team
  • Ability to understand and comply with Saint Peter's and New Brunswick Health Department health and safety guidelines
