The RN Employee Health Services will:
  • Perform Pre-Employment Physical initial screening by reviewing medical history and immunization records, perform urine drug screening as per SPUH chain of custody form for pre-placement candidates, assisting healthcare practitioners perform physical exams and documenting all assessment findings in EHR. Review results of laboratory findings and titers upon receipt, notify and provide copy to candidate and refer to personal healthcare practitioner if abnormalities exist. Review SPUH Vaccine Policy with candidate and identify any needs for updated vaccines.
  • Establish and maintain a program to provide for emergency treatment of employees. Determine if EHS advanced healthcare practitioner/Emergency Department intervention is indicated and refers as needed. Perform nursing assessment on cases presented according to established procedures. Render treatment for minor disorders or injuries, according to standing treatment orders.
  • Participates in the prevention and control of occupational diseases by conducting post-exposure follow-up screenings according to established policy and procedures and administering vaccines as needed. Collaborates with Infection Prevention Manager/Team as necessary.
  • Review all occupational incident reports and follows up with concerned parties. Collaborate with workers' compensation management team on injured workers, performs case management, acute injury management and coordinates alternate assignments for injured workers. Proactively manage active workers' compensation claims for the progress/response to treatment, prevention of lapses or delays in treatment and for the facilitation of a safe return to work. Document all workers' compensation information in EHR.
  • Direct the work of clerical staff, schedules, and checks work for proper completion. Oversee scheduling of appointments, screen employees returning to work after an illness/injury, and consults with EHS advanced healthcare practitioner regarding any discrepancies regarding return to work and nursing assessment findings.


Requirements:
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey
  • Previous experience in occupational health preferred
  • BSN preferred and must be obtained within 3 (three) years from hire date
  • OHN Certification or other related nursing certification preferred
  • BLS Certification required, as approved by the American Heart Association
