Registered Respiratory Care Practitioner Per Diem
Respiratory Therapy

The Registered Respiratory Care Practitioner provides all aspects of therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory care under the direction of the shift supervisor.

The Registered Respiratory Care Practitioner Per Diem will:
  • Perform diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures as appropriate to the ages of the patient's growth and development through the life cycle factors.
  • Initiate and maintain mechanical ventilation.
  • Respond to emergent patient care.


Requirements:
  • Graduate of an AMA-approved one (1) year Program in Respiratory Therapy.
  • Licensed by the State of New Jersey Board of Respiratory Care as a Respiratory Care Practitioner and Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Demonstrated competency in all procedures within scope of practice, as appropriate to the ages of the patients served; the ability to obtain information and interpret information in terms of the patient's needs; a knowledge of growth and development and an understanding of the range of treatment needed by these patients.
  • Demonstrated competency in the care and treatment of the following age groups: Infant, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric.
  • BLS Certification required, as approved by the American Heart Association.
  • Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) obtained within 30 days of start date. Registered Respiratory Care Practitioners trained and assigned to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit on a regular basis is required to obtain the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
