Pediatric Therapy
The Pediatric Speech Therapist will:
- Evaluate and assess each patient utilizing various objective tests and measurements and clinical observations, as appropriate to the ages of the patients growth and development through the life cycle factors (Neonates, Pediatrics, Adolescents).
- Develop proper therapeutic treatment plan of care and anticipated outcome for each patient in accordance with a written and signed Physician's order or prescription as appropriate to the ages of the patients' growth and development through the life cycle factors (Neo tes, Pediatrics, Adolescents).
- Perform treatment plan of care through use of various therapeutic positioning and facilitation techniques, age and developmentally appropriate activities, patient/parent/caregiver education and training and orders adaptive equipment to assist patients in reaching their maximum performance levels and achieve outcomes as appropriate to the ages of the patients growth and development through the life cycle factors (Neonates, Pediatrics, Adolescents).
- Document initial assessments, reassessments, and progress notes for each patient in accordance with established department policy and procedure.
- Ensure all treatments/procedures/protocols are performed based on established standards; demonstrate competency in performing all treatments/procedures/protocols and use of equipment within the scope of speech therapy practice as appropriate to the ages of the patients, their growth and development through the life cycle, and with an understanding of the range of treatment needed by these patients.
- Be responsible for the completion of all clerical work concerning assigned caseload maintaining appropriate data and statistics in accordance with established department procedure.
- Participate in appropriate clinics to maintain liaison with Physicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in clinical education programs and department educational programs in accordance with established procedures.
- Demonstrate effective and efficient time management encompassing patient care, documentation and administrative responsibilities.
- Develop and maintain good human relations skills with employees, patients, visitors, parents, caregivers, and Hospital Staff.
- Maintain safe and orderly work practices and work area.
- Perform other related duties as requested.
Requirements:
- Requires Masters Degree in Speech and Language Pathology from a college or university accredited by the council on Academic Accreditation in Speech Language Pathology (CAA).
- Requires a current New Jersey State license and registration in Speech and Language Pathology or eligibility.
- Previous experience preferred; especially in Pediatric Rehabilitation.
- Requires analytical ability, use of independent judgment and sufficient interpersonal and communication skills for interaction with patients, parents, caregivers, students, therapists and other healthcare professionals.
- NDT certification preferred but not necessary.
- BLS Certification required, as approved by the American Heart Association.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology.
