Medical Technologist - Per Diem
Lab Evening-Night Shift

The Medical Technologist will:
  • Demonstrate proficiency and understanding of lab analyses/testing performed.
  • Analyze test results and communicate discrepancies to Supervisor for appropriate corrective action.
  • Collect and organize data for special Quality Assurance projects as assigned.
  • Complete and document assigned scheduled equipment calibration and maintenance according to Sectional procedure.
  • Comply with established procedures for all testing performed: Perform tests within established turnaround time.
  • Follow protocol for running controls and accepting/verifying results with no more than two (2) documented instances per year of non-compliance.
  • When receiving specimens into the LIS, ensures patients' specimens match with labels/requisitions.
  • Interpret, evaluate and analyze results based on the correlation of results with theoretical and technical knowledge.
  • Maintain an appropriate inventory of reagents and supplies for area of responsibility and notifies Supervisor when reagents and supplies are low.
  • Maintain corrected results log accurately and within one-half hour of identifying and resolving problems.
  • Maintain familiarity with all testing procedures regardless of complexity level.
  • Notify Supervisor and/or Pathologist of unresolved discrepancies or unexpected results within one hour from awareness of problem.
  • Accurately perform correlation studies for new procedures/instruments following established guidelines, as assigned.
  • Accurately perform necessary calculations as applicable.
  • Perform tests within established turnaround time.
  • Prepare reagents when necessary according to Section procedures.
  • Accurately transcribe data into Lab computer system.


Requirements:
  • Must meet one of the following:
    • Bachelors degree in a chemical, physical, biological or Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology from an accredited institution
    • Associates degree in a laboratory science (chemical or biological science) or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution
    • Equivalent laboratory training and experience meeting the requirements defined by CLIA
  • ASCP strongly preferred
