Saint Peter's Healthcare System Employee Referral Program

Who Can Participate

All active full-time, part-time, per-diem and temporary employees are eligible to participate in the program, except for department chairs and the senior leadership team. Directors and managers who are not involved in the candidate selection process, and where the referral is outside their immediate department, are eligible to participate.

Bonus Amounts

  • Hard-to-fill positions $10,000 referral bonus
  • Physicians (MD/DO) $2,000 referral bonus
  • Candidates with 2+ years of experience $1,000 referral bonus
  • Candidates with less than 2 years of experience $800 referral bonus
  • Night shift (3rd shift) positions Double bonus

Amounts listed reflect full-time positions. Bonus amounts for part-time positions are based on the hours worked (for example, .20 FTE will be paid at 20% shown).

Hard-to-fill positions are determined by Human Resources.

Referral Rules

  1. Fill out the form on this page with your referred candidate's name prior to the candidate's interview. You may also email your manager or director with your referral name.
  2. Make sure your referred candidate lists your name on their application. Notification of a referral after the candidate has been hired will not be accepted.
  3. We'll keep you updated on the status of your referral and notify you if your candidate has been hired.
  4. If your candidate is hired, you will be paid the referral bonus amount after the referred candidate has completed 90 days of continuous employment.
  5. Referral bonuses for hard-to-fill positions are paid according to the new hire candidate terms (25% at the first pay period following 90 days, 25% at the first pay period following 6 months, 25% at the first pay period following 9 months and the final 25% at the first pay period following one year from start date).
  6. Both you and your referred candidate must be actively employed at the time of the bonus payout(s).
  7. The bonus award is taxed as ordinary income, in accordance with state and federal laws and regulations.
  8. The following are ineligible to be claimed for a referral bonus:
    • A student who completed a rotation at Saint Peter's within the previous 6 months
    • Current per diem, temporary and contractor employees
    • Contract personnel engaged by Saint Peter's within the previous 6 months
    • Internal transfers from other positions within Saint Peter's or from affiliates of Saint Peter's
    • Those who were employed by Saint Peter's within the last 12 months
